The Most Dynamic Business Event of 2019
SELANGOR: Regional Powerhouse
23 July 2019 | Hilton Hotel, Kuala Lumpur
The Selangor Government has realised the need to go beyond being the best in the country to being a regional champion.
One such initiative is Smart Selangor, which aims to transform Selangor into the region’s leading Smart State by 2025. 2025 is also the year for the ASEAN economic integration and connectivity within ASEAN.
As part of the journey in achieving our vision for 2025, Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) (MBI Selangor) is creating a roadmap of regional cooperation and dissemination of information. Selangor Regional Powerhouse follows a series of smaller forums called Selangor Synergies held from 2017 till 2019. And from 2020 onwards, the conference will take go beyond Malaysian shores to the rest of the world.
The Plenary Session Policy Makers & Corporate Leaders: Prospering The Economy Together
Lead by the Menteri Besar of Selangor, the Plenary Session will see government and corporate decision makers discuss the potentials of Selangor as a regional hub for investments. The Menteri Besar will give perspective on how the Selangor Government is creating the ecosystem and infrastructure that will bring investors to the state. Foreign policy makers, comprising representatives from the six largest investors in Selangor – namely Japan, the US, Singapore, Germany, Taiwan, and South Korea – have been invited to share their views on what makes Selangor so attractive for their countries. Finally, heads of major organisations that have made Selangor the site of their regional hubs will speak on their rationale for doing so.

From defining the concept of smart city living to executing it in action into smart cars, smart communications, fewer emissions and energy usage. MBI Selangor’s goal is to transform Selangor into the leading, sustainable Smart City in ASEAN, making us a pioneer to be emulated. The session will gather Government and Business Leaders to discuss what has been done before, what needs to be done and how we can accelerate Selangor towards its mission in the smartest time possible.

Senior government officials and experts in aviation will share their perspective on how the Federal and Selangor State Government are setting the infrastructure and ecosystem for aerospace companies to thrive in Selangor. The session will also discuss spin off businesses that will be developed from this and the macroscopic benefits it will have for the nation.
3rd Breakaway Session Innovating the Future – Selangor as a Hub of Opportunities for Future Technologies
Green technology, biotechnology, nanotechnology, information technology – these are all intrinsic tech hubs of a Smart State. As Selangor arises to invite extensive collaborations and incentives to excel in these, it is also setting itself up to be a give perspective on how both the State and the nation as a whole are encouraging the growth of future technology. Meanwhile, Policy makers as well as captains of foreign and Malaysian companies will discuss intrinsic details on how the public and private sectors can encourage the growth of future technology through the seamless integration of collective experiences, to make Selangor the central Future Technology station for ASEAN in the near future.
