Subang: Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) (“MBI Selangor”) and Railway Assets Corporation (“RAC”) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (“MOU”) to foster relations and find collaborative means to develop strategic railway assets in Selangor.
In line with the State’s and Federal Government’s visions, the MOU will see both parties collaborate in developing strategic railway assets, including affordable homes, as well as the implementation of Smart Selangor initiatives within transit hubs. The partnership supports Selangor’s vision to be a Smart State by 2025.
The signing of the MOU by MBI Selangor Chief Executive Officer, YM Raja Shahreen Raja Othman and RAC General Manager, Azhar Ahmad, was witnessed by YB Anthony Loke, Minister of Transport Malaysia and YAB Amirudin Shari, Dato’ Menteri Besar Selangor.
According to YM Raja Shahreen, “This collaboration marks a significant milestone for the Smart Selangor agenda as we jointly explore the development of strategic railway assets that will allow RAC to unlock the value of these assets for Transit Oriented Development Aimed at promoting sustainable and liveable communities in Selangor. The development will make provision for desirable and affordable housing, good connectivity while simultaneously looking into revitalising economic development around railway stations in Selangor”.
Meanwhile, RAC General Manager, Azhar Ahmad said, “This is a move forward made by RAC and at the same time proving that the Ministry of Transport is keen to assist the Government in realizing the National Housing Policy 2018-2025. This collaboration also demonstrates that the Federal and the State Government have the same objective to realize a Transit Oriented Development projects including the construction of affordable homes”.
“This affordable housing will create a liveable township and the communities have an easy access to transit system. I also believe that many business opportunities that generate revenue to RAC will be created as well as giving a positive impact on the development of the railway sector”.
The signing ceremony was held in conjunction with MBI Selangor’s Selangor Synergies Forum Series 7 on Selangor Maritime Gateway.
